Arid Character Design

For the newest Crit Corner challenge, and the final in the series, we were tasked with creating a character that inhabits the environment that we have been creating. I chose to design an outlaw character that lives outside of society and opperates on both sides of the law. Enjoy.

Creature design and Figure study

This is a creature that i designed for the newest challenge on The Crit corner. This was the third part of a four part challenge which revolves around building a world and characters and vehicles that belong in that world.

I recently went to the Colorado renaissance festival with my good friend and fellow artist Cayce Goldberg. He has an awesome collection of medieval armor and weapons so i took some quick photos and did this study. Stay tuned for an epic fantasy piece featuring Cayce and his armor soon.

J.C. Leyendecker studies

I have really grown to love doing master studies recently. It is a great way to improve as an artist. I think J.C. Leyendecker is one of the greatest illustrators of the 20th century so I decided to do some studies of his work.

White Power Ranger re-imagined

This is a piece i did a few months back for the very first challenge for The Crit Corner. The prompt was to redesign a character from one's childhood. I decided to re imaging the white Power Ranger as Tom the overweight part ranger for the Angel Grove Parks Service. Enjoy!

Process work

Hello again! I am going to keep updating this thing pretty often in the next few weeks to bring it up to speed with the work i have done and am doing currently. Today i figured i would show some process work on a few different pieces. The first piece is an environment that i did for an online group that some friends of mine started with the intention of helping each other produce some good portfolio pieces. We have started holding bi monthly challenges to keep everyone involved and it has been great practice. The prompt was to design an arid environment that the next three challenges will be based in. I began with some basic thumbs to get some ideas out. Eventually i landed on a giant bridge cuty that is built into a huge canyon.

The second Challenge in this series was to design a vehicle that exists in this environment. I wanted to design a lightly armored scout vehicle to patrol the surrounding canyons, so i did quite a few thumbnails to experiment with shape language and whether or not i wanted it to be a ground or aerial vehicle. I ended up deciding to do an aerial vehicle with three wings.

Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for more updates in the weeks to come.

Greetings internet! I have finally decided to get a blog up and running and I will be updating pretty regularly so stay tuned! For my first post here is a painting that I did earlier on this year. The idea was to show some nomadic snowboarders with wooden snowboards traversing some mountains. Thanks for stopping by!
